IKEA

Ok, those of you who know me, know that I love IKEA. It's more than love really. It your typical obsession. Yesterday, I spent alot of money there. But I don't care. I don't think I will stop until 95% of my house is fully furnished with the stuff. I don't know, I don't really enjoy building all this myself, but its so affordable, and cute, and well, they had me at hello back in 99. I had gotten a book from a college friend, and loved it. Then I moved to Denmark, and there was one in my hometown, and I basically fell in love. Heck I would drive a good 8 hours to Chicago or 5 to Philly just to shop there for a day. I would rent a hotel room, shop again the next day and drive home. I just bought a glorious new table and chairs and I'm more in love with them. I love furnature that makes you want to use it. you know? i just i'm in love. The first thing I did when I found out we were moving to Germany was to google how close the base was to the nearest IKEA. 20 minutes? yep. I'm in heaven. that's my new table and chairs. My reward for finishing my comps. :) hehe

Moving here

Esben and I moved to Germany on 31 March 08. After living in England for so many years, ok only 4, I still had culture shock. I lived in England but we didn't get out much. I could blame the grey weather or the lack of side walks or bike lanes, but the area we lived in lacked some of those things, we felt like we needed and wanted in life. When I was eligible to leave in Aug of 07, I put a little base on my dreamsheet called Geilenkirchen. It was as close to Denmark as we could get, and my job was a 2-deep slot and it was the roles that I liked in my job field. I spoke with my current boss who tried to tell me that he wouldnt put in a good word for me. I was taken aback, as I'm a fairly good worker, I had won awards, I was studying for masters degree, so I figured I wasnt going to get it. But I did. Esben had to quit his good paying IT job with a unknown future of what the NHR region of Germany would hold. We made the decision together and so far, I feel very confident about it. We found a fantastic place in Schafhausen, Germany. I bought my dream car, and we get to move in a few days. So excited.
